✈️ Frequently Asked Questions

ADF Flight School

at ADF Flight School, we care deeply about our students and graduates achieving their dreams and reaching the goals they set. To accomplish this, we have the best human team, the most innovative technology and equipment, and an exceptional study methodology designed for success.

Process and Requirements

What type of visa do I need to study at ADF Airways?

As an international student, you will need an M-1 Visa. We provide the I-20 form after your enrollment so you can process the visa at the U.S. Embassy in your country.

The M-1 visa is strictly for full-time studies. Legally, it does not allow off-campus work. However, once you finish your training, you may apply for Practical Training if you meet the requirements.

You must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently (approximately B2 level under international standards). The school offers a free online interview to assess your level, which you can schedule through your Academic Advisor.

You can start at 17 years old if you are an international student.

The school provides all study materials, both virtual and physical, and will guide you through the acquisition process.

Costs and Financing

How much does the full commercial pilot program cost?

The current approximate cost ranges between $56,000 and $62,000 USD. This amount depends on the student’s progress and dedication, as the training is personalized.

In several countries, there are institutions willing to finance the program. This matter must be handled directly by the student. Your Academic Advisor can also provide information based on your country of origin.

No. At ADF, we use a pay-as-you-go system or phase-based deposits, making it easier to manage your finances. Your Academic Advisor can explain how the payment system works.

Duration and Licenses

How long does it take to get a Commercial Pilot License?

If you dedicate yourself full-time, you can complete the program in 12 to 15 months, depending on weather conditions and your personal progress.

The FAA license is the most widely recognized worldwide because commercial aviation originated in the United States. However, you must validate it in your home country. The validation process is usually simple and typically takes no more than one month.

A total of 250 flight hours are required. At ADF, students graduate with approximately 280 flight hours.

Do not worry — it is part of the learning process. You will receive additional instruction in the areas where improvement is needed and may retake the exam following FAA protocols. Please note that failed attempts are recorded and there is a limit.

Life in Miami (Housing)

Does the school offer housing for international students?

Yes. We offer housing options near Miami Executive Airport. Students may choose rooms in family homes or apartments, depending on their budget.

Many students choose to buy an affordable used car, a scooter, electric scooters, bicycles, or use ride-sharing services. The school’s area is accessible and safe.

Career Outlook

Where can I work after getting my license?

You may work in commercial airlines, cargo aviation, executive aviation, or as a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) to accumulate flight hours.

Yes. Outstanding ADF graduates have the opportunity to train as instructors with us and join our team to accumulate the 1,500 flight hours required by many airlines. They must also enroll in university studies alongside this process. Your Academic Advisor can provide additional details.

It is a course that prepares you to transition from small aircraft to high-performance aircraft such as the A320 or B737, giving you a competitive advantage in airline selection processes.

Health and Others

What type of medical certificate do I need?

You need a First-Class Medical Certificate issued by an FAA-authorized physician. It is essential to obtain this before making a significant investment.

For the school, it is not a problem. However, keep in mind that many commercial airlines have professional image policies requiring tattoos not to be visible while in uniform.

Because of our more than 40 years of experience, our impeccable safety record, and our expertise in guiding students through every step of the process.
