English is the universal language of aviation. No matter what country you fly or train in, to land a job at an airline you must be fluent in English.
At ADF we strive everyday to be exceptional. It is essential that new students arrive at ADF with a high level of English proficiency to facilitate the learning process. International students, whose native language is not English, must take an additional step to ensure that they meet the ICAO English requirements. We know from decades of experience that it is essential for students to start their training with an adequate level of English to increase their probability of success.
It is not enough to just have the technical and theoretical knowledge of aviation, the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) requires all pilots certificated in the USA to have a fluent level of reading, comprehension and communication.
The first step of your application process will be your English proficiency interview. The interview lasts approximately 15 minutes, and may be conducted via video call or in person if the applicant visits ADF in Miami. Once you send us the interview form, you will be notified via e-mail with instructions including the date and time of the interview.
During the interview the candidates will be asked general questions about their life in order to evaluate their response skills, attitude and abilities. Candidates may also be asked to read an excerpt from a text.
Once the interview is completed and approved, the student will receive notification of the results and instructions to continue the application process with the support of an Academic Counselor. If the candidate fails the interview, they may attempt to retake the interview at a future date to be agreed upon.
